Latch

Damn good!
Well last day of classes for the week today. Monday classes are cancelled for Labor Day (?) so long weekend! It'll be pretty boring since Rachel has to study for her PCAT on Friday but we do have a few plans for the weekend still in the works.

Last night was a lot of fun though. I spent most of the day chilling out and doing homework and after 5 I met up with Rachel on Forbes to get some ingrediaents for what we were making for dinner. We made Chicken Picatta with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies and WOW it was actually really good! And it was wine night last night. After we cleaned up we watch What Not To Wear and it was exactly what we needed to wind down after a long week.

Now I'm gonna go for a run and then relax for the day

Land Of Oppurtunity

What a long day. I am exhausted and its only 4 15. Currently sitting at Rachels place while she tries to buy tickets for Pitts football season. Its homework day here since I dont have class tomorrow and I dont plan on doing anything but working out and hanging out w/ Rachel at 5.

Today was hell getting home. Theres a Pirates game and everyone parks at Heinz field which is right next to the subway station that I take into downtown. So everyone and ther families and grandparents were waiting for an already late train (they were late all day today) and the kicker is that the stop they ould get off at was the closest and the first stop. Like seriously? You could've walked there faster in the time you wasted at the station and made the train smelly and cramped.

But I digress. Last night, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Tyler came by (mostly just to see my place) at around 10 30 and we all hung out for a bit but it was late. It's nice to finally be having some sort of social life since I got here.

Anyways, off to finish the last half of my homework.

Coffee

If theres anything I actually hate (because I use the term loosley), its wasting my time doing something I dont need to do. So I have a PSA: if you're in high school, please don't fuck around. It's not worth it in the slightest. Do good in school, I mean it.

Tuesdays are going to be the bane of my exsistence. I have two classes today and my Calc class is over at 11 while my lab starts at 12 50 so now I just sit around for a few hours and wait for my lab. My day is over at 2 on tuesdays and I'm getting used to being out by noon honestly. But the rest of the day is still a mystery for me so we'll see how today goes.

Anyways, bored out of my mind and all I can do is drink coffee (which isnt necesarily a bad thing).

It's Getting Hot In Here

Happy smile!
Today was a pretty productive day for me. This morning I had my classes and they went fine, really quickly actually. When I got home, I immediatly changed, popped advil and went running through Schenley again. After I got home and took a shower, I headed over to hang out with Rach and Elizabeth for a little while and then I came home. Now I''m just trying not to fall asleep, I am exhausted but I dont like napping because then I dont sleep well at night. Rach is mad at me because when I got to her place, I told her I hadnt eaten all day and she practically force fed me some left over brocolli. Stupid decision but if I didnt go running when I did, I wouldve lost all motivation to go at all.

Anyways, gonna fight the desire to fall asleep until its a reasonable hour to go to bed.

Enjoy a selfie that I took an hour ago because of how happy I was to be here and because all the amazing people I'm meeting.

Do My Thang

Eyebrows on fleek
Finally met (almost) every one of Rachels friends up here in PA. Everyone I met last night (aka The Boys) were so swee, everyone was really friendly and funny and welcoming! It was a lot of fun last night. Rachel and I also made dinner (well mostly Rachel) since she wanted to figure out her George Foreman grill and it was healthy and tasty, go us.

Dinner was fab!
Today I cleaned and did some homework since Rachel and Lauren had a pharmacy thing. Tomorrow classes pick up again and social lives die down until Friday.

Cool Kids

Don't question it
Last night was a blast in a glass. I finally got to put some faces to the many names from Rachel's stories and they are all really nice people (so far anyway). But it was a lot of fun. Around 6 yesterday, I went over to Rachel's place which is pretty much done by now, and we had Subway (we split one sub; thats college life, dont let anyone tell you differently!) then people started coming over and we pre-gamed in Rachel's hot apartment(and I mean scorching hell hot). I had beer too which is something I dont normally drink but the Iron City Beer (Pitts famous beer) was actually good. We went to two parties and danced and drank and it was a lot of fun.

Today I think its the same plan but I'm not 100% sure yet. But it would be fun regardless. Gonna go down my coffee and get ready for the day.

Pretty damn good

C'est la Vie

Feeling photogenic this evening
What a day! Well this morning I called Rachel to see what her plan was for today and she told me to just come over whenever. So around 10 after I had my coffee, I walked over there to help her and Elizabeth move in and most of their stuff was already there so I helped clean her bedroom and put things away. I finally had full conversations with her parents and they are great people. Suuuper nice. For lunch, we all went to Primanti Bros (Pittsburgh famous sandwichs) and wow was it fantastic! They were really great! After that we went shopping and I got my groceries. After getting the stuff that Rachel sent to my place, we set up her room and its soooo close to being done. After that we headed out to dinner and they took us to this little italian place that is fantastic. Its this little hole in the wall place but it was so good!
Sandwich was FAB

Now I'm home ready for bed but with plans to go to a party tomorrow night with Rachel and some of her friends and I am thrilled because it'll be my first night out! I'm so excited. Once I get home from school, I think Rachel is coming over so that'll be fun!

Welp, off to bed, need to get some sleep. I'm exhausted!

Bury The Hatchet

Interesting morning today. Wokeup and it was drizzling. Well heavy drizzling, if there is such a thing, so when I walked to the bus stop, I realized that while I made the right decision to wear my boots, they couldnt get wet because it would damage them. But oh well, I was in a good mood, I looked good. Well I get to North Shore (where my classes are) and it is pouring! Like a downpour! And i had an umbrella so I wasn't soaked but the bottom of my backpack was because of how it was falling and the backs of my legs got wet so I realized I need to adjust how i hold my umbrella (not used to it) and I need rain boots because damn I was in a bad mood when I got to school.
The dedication is uncanny

Besides that, just got back and my books finally got here. My neighbors are great, they put my package right by my door! They are so sweet! Rachel is supposed to come over sometime within the course of the day to get her things she shipped here. But I havent heard from her all day.

Grilled cheese all day erryday
Now I am gonna go work on my long delayed math homework. Good thing its optional and doesnt need to be turned in because then I would be screwed.

Only When I Walk Away

So

My face when I saw HIS face (only a sec though; kept it cool)
Im gonna do a brief run down on my professors (no names):

Chem: Professor was a BABE. Wow they weren't kidding, he is HOT. And kinda dorky and likes Spiderman so I like him a lot. Wouldn't mind staring at him for an hour a day and learning chemistry. Overall, liked him a lot (and his face wow) but I won't have a problem with his class. Seems to know what hes talking about. Btw, his eyes basically followed me out the room *smug face*

Calculus: This guy is something else. He projects his voice like you wouldnt believe and has a stutter but of all the math professors and teachers I've had, this man finally taught me how to solve a quadtratic formula! And in a really quick review skimming way! Like of all people who have managed to teach me math to where I understand it, this man, with a stutter and projection issues, finally made me understand something. I'm gonna enjoy his class.

Sociology: This guy is a dinosaur; BUT hes pretty cool and witty. He reminds me of a former teacher in high school but older. This guy is funny and old fashioned which is a nice change. I'll enjoy his class a lot. Besides that pretty normal day. Rented my textbooks and theyre on their way. Tomorrow I have the Chem lab and Calc again but I do end the day a lot later which kinda sucks but oh well.

Confidence in general was through the roof today; I small talked with a lot of people on the bus and subway and cracked jokes. Maybe I'm just happy with living in the city. Anyways, hot professor, knowledged math prof, and a witty sociology prof. I think I'm going to enjoy myself this semester.

xo

ps I wasnt a total blubbering idiot when I realized the prof was hot. I kept it cool, made him blush with a little flirting and I felt confidence restore itself. Go me!

Ice Ice Baby

Ice Ice Baby
This morning I was nominated byt my best friend Rachel to do the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS (or Lou Gehrig's disease). Rules are if you are nominated, you have 24 hours to pur ice over your head or donate 100$ to the ALS foundation then nominate someone else. Now in my eyes, I dont see why everyone can't do both? So I poured ice over my head as well as donating 50$ to the foundation. I split it in half. It was kinda fun but I did it alone because I dont know anyone yet and my neighbor was at work so I couldnt ask her.

Felt this was an appropriate reaction to my life
Now I clean the house! I am scrubbing the floors again in the bathroom because I didnt get all the yellow so hopefully this second treatment will work better. I vacuumed yesterday so floors are done. Also its laundry day! I've been avoiding it by all means but I'm also doing Rachel a favor and washing her new sheets with mine (since it had to be done anyways) and I absoloutly have to do it today.

So ice and cleaning is my day, then classes start tomorrow for me.

I wont post the video because I sound hoarse from my minor cold but I do have a screenshot!

XO

ps. My washing machine makes very strange noises

Fever

Dinner last night
It is such a gorgeous day outside!

I woke up pretty early but then got so tired and then fell asleep again until 11 so pretty late start to the day. I guess it didnt help that I was watching Pulp Fiction until 2 AM last night but oh well. Great movie. Also last night I had a good dinner that I made, pretty impressed with myself.

I love living here
After I had my coffee and read the NY Times because I'm pretentious, I went for a run in Schenley park. They have a lot of trails and I went down this trail that was mostly in the woods but it was really hilly too. Us flat-landers aren't used to running uphill so I ran up and then walked down because gravity would kill me. When I got home I did some yoga because I was pretty tense. After I showered, I made this kick ass salad and now I am not getting offt his couch for the rest of the day and drinking detox tea.

Anyways, I feel good after my run and yoga so hopefully everyone has a great Saturday!

The Way I Am

Adventures to Target yesterday and down Forbes was interesting. It was the first time I had ridden the bus to get groceries. It was a little humiliating actually, I tripped getting on and then sat in the wrong part of the bus ( I sat in the handicapped seating face palm) but I made it there in one piece even though I am a fool. It's all good though, now I know. Its the same bus I took to school it just went outbound instead of inbound. On my way back, I got off a little earlier than I planned (on purpose) so I could walk down Forbes and just look around but it was nice getting a walk in .

I also dropped by the womens hospital for UPMC and introduced myself and told them I had applied for a part time job so hopefully I'll get a call soon. I tried to meet someone at the main hospital but they wouldnt have it but I did leave my name and number so fingers crossed.

Looking for a job is a full time job let me tell ya. But I'm excited for classes to start already. It'll give me something to do that I'll enjoy. I looked up my professors and it looks promising, they all seem to have a good pass rate so I'm sure I'll be fine.

Anyways, most of my adventures for today are over and its only 1 PM here. I'll probably go for a run a little later since I cant sit on this couch a minute longer.

Chivalry Is Dead

Actually a good picture! Favorite book.
Yay! I finally have Wifi! The Comcast guy just left and now I dont have to steal wifi! I felt like a terrible person honestly. Anyways, So rest of the day is empty but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna take a trip to Target a little later to get coffee and some more brown sugar because I am out entirely.

Was on the phone with Rachel for a little bit and everytime we talk on the phone, we get more and more excited for ehr to get here. But besides that I've been passin my time with drinking coffee and reading my favorite book (of all time probably) Pride & Prejudice. I really love this book but it gives me very unrealistic expectations for men because lets face: chivalry is dead.

But anyways, spent most of the night on the phone too with Racehl because we couldnt sleep (too much coffee?) and I got up at 1 am to make noodles because I realized I didnt eat dinner. Well let me give a word of advice: college kids have a budget but if youre gonna buy something easy to make, stay away from dehydrated asian noodles. They are not the way to go, theyre eaother chalky or taste like dog food. Not talking about Ramen because thats different. The noodles themselves weren't bad last night but the veggies in them were chalky and nasty. Stay away.

Welp, off to Target soon and then to rot away and catch up on all the things I need my computer for.

Starlight

Well I'm gonna make this short because I am using my nieghbors free wifi and I feel terrible so I'm going to disconnect after this post.

Yesterday I was super adult because I dealt with credit card fraud, power outage in my building when a storm rolled through, and then I finally got my period (which was exciting for all of 30 seconds). So lots of annoying things happened and then lots of ok things happened. Got my bus pass, picked up some school supplies, and applied for more jobs. And today I had my orientation and that was productive but besides that not much happening today. Tomorrow I get my wifi and then I'm free the whole weekend.

Anyways, I'll be more detailed tomorrow when I have my own wifi.

I feel so bad!

Take A Bow

Well I am currently sitting at the Panera down the street from my place because I have now wifi until thursday! Its all good. Yesterday my parents left (sad face to the extreme) and I was bored all day. I watched Friends and two movies before going to bed at 9! Cool me, I know. Well today is a little more exciting. I am hanging out here for a bit to catch up on certain things I need a computer to do and then going to explore the bus routes and drop by CVS to get some stuff.

Yesterday morning I got up early and went to the school to sign up for my classes and a week before classes start I managed to get all the classes I needed! Woohoo! Also I'm finished with all my classes by noon and I have no class on thursday so even better! So thats taken care of, and then today Ive been looking for jobs. Ive applied to all kinds of jobs at UPMC locations nearby my house so fingers crossed I hear back from somewhere soon! I'm itching to start working again. I also applied to Panera because it couldnt hurt right?

Well, looked up my professors and they all seem to be pretty good so I think I'll be ok.

Starting to get really busy here now so I'm gonna dip out soon since I'm getting hungry and I want to resist temptation. But I think the desire for Wifi is a little stronger.

I'll try to check in tomorrow!

xo

PS in very sad newa, to hear of Robin Williams passing has hit home for me. I grew up with his movies and his laughter and even the movie Patch Adams encouraged me to want to be a doctor from a very young age. To make someone feel better not just physically, but emotionally was something that was inspiring from a young age and goes to show that depression is something that everyne needs to take seriously. It's a very realy problem and people cant just "stop being sad" whenever they feel like it. Robin Williams made people smile even when he couldnt and that is inspiring. Rest in peace. As the Academy said "Genie, you're free".

Cough Syrup

"Cathy"
Today was pretty much a relaxing day. This morning I woke up pretty late because I woke up at 4AM from nausea and couldnt fall asleep again for a while. It sucked. But anyways, we woke up and went for a walk down to Phipps Botanical garden in Schenley Park and then continued through to Forbes and Bigelow to have some sit down time for the pups and we had some drinks. I had a strawberry bubble tea that was actually really good. Then we walked back and I realized that the walk really isnt all that bad. Its actually quite short.
Lulu is enjoying the attention

After we settled down, my mom and I went to Target to do my grocery shopping finally and I am stocked up for a good month! I'll be great. Now my parents are chilling on the balcony and I am inside because my insides are being weird today. I think its my body getting back to equillibrium since I stopped taking birth control. For anyone, this is a PSA: Dont start taking birth control at 14, it screws your developing body up. Like it did mine. If you can avoid it all together, do it. Its not a big deal if you are smart about it. Now my body is going through weird changes and its not a fun time.

Anyways, tacos for dinner and chilling out before I get up early to go register for classes tomorrow.

Hang Me Up To Dry

My closet doors look better
Well after 4 long days of work, my place is officially (well for the most part) done. We have the living room all set up, the desk is done, kitchen is done and my bedroom is set up. I promised pictures so I have pictures.

Now I am relaxing on my new couch (which is fab and supa comfy) and Lucy is all cuddled up and we're watching Friends (well I am anyways) and Adam is fixing my dresser which is getting all wobbly from all the moves I'm guessing.

Mom jazzed up the bathroom! Fab!

Anyways, we're gonna be trying this new pizza place and just hanging out because we are all pooped out. And the pups are too.

Short post but I'm gonna watch Friends because its my favorite show and no other sitcom can top it!

Unbelievers

Happy dance
What a long long day, my legs are aching! Well I got my license finaly but I'm not going to post that picture because it is SOO bad. In two years, I get to change it. But not too bad and then when I went to the school to try to register for classes, I couldnt because people kept pointing me in different directions and eventually someone told me I wouldnt be able to see an advisor today and to come back Monday morning at 8 when the doors open. Grrr.

Anyways, after that we went to Ikea to get the couch and some of the last little things we need here and when we got the couch, we werent sure if it would fit in the car and we didnt want to pay for delivery so we took our chances and we actually fit everuything in the car! It was really great in the moment. We got everything up the stairs and assembled it then me and my mom went to get the last copies of the keys so we are pretty much all set.

Couch is perffff
I promised a picture by today and a corner of the living room is finished but I'm just going to show you the couch instead. Keep it a surprise! Now we are settling down on our new couch and we're gonna watch Lord of the Rings and I'm gonna have strawberry gelato (favorite!).

Tomorrow will be the last day of setting up and getting things in place so tomorrow I will absoloutly post pictures of the final product!

Ways To Go

I put Florida in a ZipLock bag
Well really long day today! Got up at 7 this morning with a lot of things to do already. The movers came and everything made it to my place! All in good condition too except we lost one martini glass, bummer. But thats still good, so while my mom started unpacking Adam and I went to PNC, the DMV, and then Home Depot. I got my account set up but I couldnt get the license because I needed one more document I couldnt get until tomorrow so thats all set up and then we picked up some stuff at HD to set up the place today.

Now my mom and I are going grocery shopping! We just set up my room (partially) and now we go food shopping. The place is a mess honestly since there is stuff everywhere right now. But when it's all done (which should be tomorrow) it'll look great.

Applied for some more jobs now and followed up with some so fingers crossed, hopefully I'll get an offer soon. I'll really need it!

Anyways, off to go be a responsible adult (with the help from my madre of course!)

I'm Gonna Make This Place Your Home

I officially own an apartment! How freaky is that?!

Well the pod carrying all my furniture is going to be delivered tomorroe so its one more night of air mattresses! But it's all good.

My place! I can finally post a good picture!
We woke up at 5 AM this morning to head out and we drove forever. Virginia and West Virginia are both very hilly so I did end up getting altitude sickness. But it was fine. Todays drive seemed to take forever though. But when we finally arrived in Pittsburgh, it was so exciting! We did a walk through of my place and then went and signed the papers and as soon as I walked in, I fell in love with the place. I mean it really is fantastic. Its kinda small but its perfect for one person. I LOVE IT.
Adam is cleaning the vaulted ceilings.

So tomorrow the stuff arrives and my mom will act as director of furniture while Adam and I go to the bank, get my PA license, and then talk to AT&T about internet possibly. Right now Adam has this little box thing that gives off Wifi and it is kickass.

Anyways, we are settling down now after cleaning the whole place and getting some dinner and just hanging out.

Developing news throughout the weekend! Stay tuned!

Sweet Serendipidty

Last day in North Carolina was a success! To kill time my mom and I went to the outlet malls again and she got some clothes and I got new jeans (yay!) and a new pair of booties! I'm all set for Pittsburgh tomorrow! It's just a matter of fitting everything in my one suitcase to bring to Pitt tomorrow... Oh well, I'll figure it out.

Afterwards we went to this little shopping place called Harris Teeter (kinda like a mini Whole Foods) and we got some lunch there even though the intent was to get dinner! But I picked up some sushi and my mom got a wrap and now we are just hanging out in the townhouse again. Pretty sure we're in for the night.

It'll be an early night today because tomorrow will be an early morning since we need to be at the closing at 3. Its a pain because we have to pack the whole car tonight and that means all my clothes and my bathroom stuff, yaaaaay. But anyways, chill night for tonight so I'm gonna change into my jammies and start packing... even if its only 3 30

Confessions of a Shopoholic

Cheesy bread is all I need in my life to survive. And pictures of Lulu wearing my sunglasses.

The jacket looks better on I swear
Today was a shopping day here in NC. They just opened these brand spankin' new outlet stores down the street from the townhouse. They weren't that bad either! All my favorite stores except Forever 21 (bummer). We actually went to this store Eddie Baurer and it was mostly for my mom to look for stuff because its not really my style but while we were there my mom said we should find an "in-between" jacket for me for when its rainy and cold but not cold enough to wear my parka. We stumbled upon this really warm, form fitting, water repellent, black coat and it is super comfy and it doesnt look overly boxy! It actually looks really cute too. So we got it since it was 30% off and figured we wouldnt find anything so perfect again.

Numba 1 Stunta
We are still on the hunt for these Hunter boots, theyre really cute rain boots (which I thought I would never need) because I am moving to a rainy place! And so are my parents but no such luck today. I want to get red ones because its bold and I need a little more bold in my life. Plus red is one of my favorite colors.

Carrying on, I alos bought this beanie that's black and says "Whatever" on the front, which if you know me, is so relevant to my life. Then me and Adam took care of business! I was super adult today (Yay!) because I set up the electric and gas bills in my name to start on Wednesday and then tried to do cable but it was so annoying that we're gonna have to figure it out there but super productive!

And finally I got a clear umbrella that opens like a mushroom and I am totally content now! Tonight me and the parentals are going to this barbeque place, and I'm not too big on barbeque but I'm sure theres something I can eat there. Hourly countdown until we leave starts now! Pittsburgh here I come!

Take A Walk

Lazy day here in the temporary (for me anyways) household in NC. My madre isnt feeling too hot today and i would be lying if I said I wasnt feeling sick. It happens, new air I guess is screwing with us. So its a lazy day here, and I hav cuddled up with a cup of coffee, Passion Pit, and my MacBook. Could you ask for more?

I miss the city so much!
Only two more days until we leave for Pittsburgh and the house seem to be dragging on! I figure if I sleep late, and go to bed early days will pass but if I sleep in late I wont fall asleep early. Plus I suppose this coffee isnt helping either. But staring at a computer screen should make it easier huh? I'm going through more files and documents on my old Toshiba and I started gettig nostalgic until I thought of this quote I read on Tumblr a few days ago: Nostalgia is a dirty liar; it inists things were better than they truly were. Which is in fact 100% true. Then I wasnt sad anymore! It's time to move on I think.

Good picture I dont think I ever posted! Carnegie Library
Well, the only thing I am sorta looking forward to and sorta not looking forward to is a whole week in Pittsburgh pretty much by myself! I mean its nice to have some quiet time to get to know the city, get comfy, and put finishing touches on my apartment; however,  whole week of not seeing a face I know is a little grudging. Anyone that I know wont be in Pittsburgh until the following week, including Rachel! So by the time people start moving back in, I'll be much overdue for human contact!

Well, I'm gonna continue to scour the interwebs and distract myself for a few more hours!

Raging Fire

Well today was long and eventful. I mean, mostly a lot of driving but it was fun. I woke up this morning really early (because I thought that was when we were leaving) but we left later (Grrr). We went to Bryson City to see the property my parents own up there and it was way up there in the Smokey Mountains (formally known as the Appalacian Mountains). It was really a breathtaking view though.
Panorama of the property. Pretty!

Then we went to downtown Asheville and it was a cute town! I really liked it. Very eclectic and very bohemian. Unfortunately I couldnt spend too much time enjoying it though because I think I got sick from quick altitude changes. I get nauseas when I fly too when the altitude changes very rapidly so when we were going up and down all over the place, it was making me sick. I guess I really am a florida girl since I get sick anywhere above sea level! That'll change though I think, it better.

Now we are chilling out and I'm eating veggie sushi roll with blue cheese dressing because we couldnt find soy sauce anywhere. It really is an interesting taste. Is this what broke college life is like?

Happy Days

Saw Kaylla while getting coffee for the road!
I am currently blogging on my new MacBook Air! Yes! I just got it today! Adam bought it for me and got one for my mom too! I might be more excited than my mom though since she isn't so tech saavy but shes got the classes for how to use a Mac so she's all good! I'm already knowledged in the art of Mac so I'm good!

Yesterday morning my mom and I packed up the car and drove to North Carolina! Yup! I am no longer a Florida girl! Well I guess I am but I am no longer a resident! It wasnt too bad of a drive though, I thought. I really enjoyed it actually. It was fun driving up with my mom and the pups. We drove through Georgia and South Carolina and let me tell you the feeling of each state was so different from South Florida. Everyone is much more calm and the landscape is so different! I love it.

I dont think I've ever been so content and happy for really no reason. I finally moved, I got a new macbook because my parents are awesome and I am just really happy and excited to start my new life. I especially cant wait to go to Pittsburgh next Wednesday and REALLY get started! This is a nice little break though.

Bye Florida!
Tomorrow, me and the fam are heading to Bryson and I'm gonna see the property they own up there and then we're taking a trip to Ashville for the day with the Pups. I'm excited to see more of the US now. I mean this is mostly still the East coast but I WILL make it to Seattle in my lifetime.
MY BABY

Anyways, gonna go play around a little more on my new MacBook! Gosh I'm so excited!
