Year In Review

Well I'm a little ahead of the game but this is my year in review! I did a similar post last december when I first started writing this blog and just posted pictures from throughout the year. To summarize, some major things happened to me this year: I got my first tattoo, I got to spend my birthday with my great friends in Disney, I moved to Pittsburgh (!!), met some even more great people there, went pumpkin patching for the first time, and got a job working for Chipotle! 

Just a few things that wouldn't matter to anyone else but are phenomenal to me. Everything that happened to me this year has been a blessing because I love the people in my life and all my friends who put up with my crap day to day. You guys are the real MVP's (I'm referring to the major group chat that entertains me throughout the week and the guys of course). Here's a few of the many pictures that I wanted to put on this post but couldn't make them fit.

This year, I get to bring in the New Year with my good friends (not alone watching Greys Anatomy) and I'm glad I get to be surrounded by the people I love. 

Ahh, I'm getting all sentimental and gooey and I'm gonna snap back into my crass sarcastic self.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Well it was quiet christmas in this house this year. The family stayed in Finland for the holiday so it was just my mom, Adam, and me. And the pups of course. Nothing super eventful happened. We had dinner, opened presents (I got the new graphing calculator I asked for yeee!), and watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas (our favorite). Today I got up kinda early (which is weird) and my mom and I went hiking with the pups on Lake Wylie here in North Carolina and I brought my camera and actually got some great shots. Now we are hanging out at the house since there is nothing to do on Christmas Day for us.

I apologize for the radio silence these last few weeks! It was finals week and I was going out of my mind studying and working and all that fun stuff. I'm not gonna talk about it anymore but I'm glad the semester is over though.

Now I'm just working and sleeping a lot since I didn't get a whole lot of sleep in the last month. And nothing really all that eventful is happening right now. I'm going home in a week, and I have some other things planned for the end of the  year which I am excited about.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful break and are all relaxing after the semester from hell!

I don't know why thats the title of this post (I think because it's been stick in my head all day?) but its a good song so oh well.

Today is Black Friday and although I don't really enjoy massive crowds, I do enjoy some sweet deals dude. But seriously, I got some kick ass boots for 20 bucks. Not a bad deal if you ask me. But besides that, saw the new place my parents just got and it's got a gorgeous view and the house is going to look really cute once my parents go all HGTV on it. Yesterday was chill, I ate a lot of food, almost passed out and had a good time with my parentals.

I leave tomorrow (sad face) and I have to pack (double sad face) and then go home to work. I hate flying (with a burning passion) so I'm not really looking forward to going home for multiple reasons. This break was way to short for my taste. But enough complaining, I've had a great few days and I'm glad I got to come home for break.

Shop 'Till Ya Drop

Well, I'm not a shopper but I really love new things. Yesterday I had my last exam before the holiday break and I came back to North Carolina to visit my parentals for the week. It's nice being home, I missed them a lot. And the pups of course.

Today I took the time to curl my hair and it actually turned out good so that was a plus. Later on my mom and I went shopping and I got two new sweaters, joggers, and a new coat. This new coat is super cute and I feel like with that coat and some combat boots I could slay the patriarchy. Now I'm trying to get my parents to watch X-Men with me before I go to bed.

Tomorrow is turkey day and I am excited because it gives me a reason to eat socially unacceptable amounts of mashed potatoes.

The Guac Is Extra

Well I don't know if I mentioned it, but I got a job at Chipotle! Yep, this was my first week and I love the job and all but I am exhausted and I have guac on my pants. I am so ready for Thanksgiving break though, I just want to relax for a week.

Also last weekend, a couple friends and I went to go see Interstellar (my second time) and wow it was phenomenal! Such a great movie, the effects, the music (especially the music) and the storyline were all so good. 10/10 would recommend! On a side note, we went to this little bakery that was so cute and I had a bangin' chocolate cupcake. Besides that, nothing all that interesting has happened. Just a lot of good times with some great people I'm glad to call friends.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Well it snowed yesterday.

Yep, it was snowing. Its melted now but yesterday my whole balcony was covered in snow. I sat on the floor in front of my balcony door and watched the snow fall. I thought watching rain was peaceful but this was something else entirely. It was lovely to say the least.

Its finally the weekend and I am a happy girl because this shit week came to an awesome end when I walked out of my calculus exam and felt amazing about it because for once, I knew exactly what I needed to do. So, here's to the weekend!

Falling Down

Duck Face It Out

Well that was an unusually long hiatus from updating my blog.

Don't get too excited, I haven't done anything exciting to report except for this past weekend. This last Saturday, the guys (and Carli) decided to plan a spontaneous camping trip (that afternoon) and they invited us so Elizabeth and I tagged along. I'm a South Florida girl so I've never been proper camping before so I was excited. It was in the 30's and we all slept in one tent but with only a few hours notice, they pulled it off. I had a great night to say the least though I won't get into it but I will say it was a blast and a half. Sunday I got home, showered and then didn't get out of bed (literally) for the rest of the day.

Anyways, a little late in the game but I registered for my classes and I actually got all the classes I need so that was a small victory. American Horror Story tonight to end a pretty shitty day. I'm just happy the day is over.

Halloweekend

This weekend was by far one of the best I've had in a long time.

Friday, I took my exams and I think I did really well on them and then that night I went over to Rachel's to get ready for the night. I was so impressed by how all of my friends looked so good in their costumes! I'm not getting into details because of their incriminating nature but that night was everything I wanted it to be. On Saturday, it was mostly just relaxing. We got up late and got breakfast since we missed the bus to the game (we lost anyways) and we just hung out. At six though, we left for Kennywood with Elizabeth and Mark. Its basically an amusement park/carnival place and they were having a Fright Night so we wanted to go. I hate horror movies and things so this was a big step for me but I really did have a blast with them and it was a great night.

Today, I am watching Criminal Minds and cuddling in my bed since it is freezing in my apartment.

I Won't Let You Down

I carved my first pumpkin last night! For those that don't know, I am allergic to pumpkins so I cant touch the insides. I went all surgical last night and had gloves and wore long sleeves just so i could carve a picture into a pumpkin. But it was the first time I've ever carved one and it was a lot of fun! We carved while we watched American Horror Story. I carved Deadpool onto mine. He's a Marvel superhero (sorta) and he is really comical and one of my favorite. The sketch at the bottom is the one I have on my pumpkin.

Today I have an interview with Chipotle and I will hopefully get the job because I can do really well there. Then tomorrow two exams and I am free for a really awesome busy weekend!

Eyes Like A Car Crash

It is now 9 o clock pm here in Pittsburgh. I have been at Hillman for 11 hours with no plans of leaving soon. I needed a mental break from my calculus because it is driving me insane. My friends are all doing Organic Chemistry so my heart goes out to them as well .

Yesterday was the same thing but Friday was at least a little more interesting. We went to the library again but then at round 6, Elizabeth and I went to her uncles art gallery opening for his photographs and it was actually a lot of fun to go. I really enjoyed going with Elizabeth and looking at all the photos, nice bonding activity. After that I went to guys house for a little but to just relax and see Scott for his birthday before this long weekend at the library.

Anyways, hope to get this week over with quickly and then its on to Halloween!

Age of Ultron

H O L Y CRAP

I don't mean to start off with profanities but I just saw the new Avengers movie trailer (The Avengers: Age of Ultron) and it had my face just in total shock because it was phenomenal! I mean I feel like a little kid who's just overly excited and wants to run around in circles until I cant see straight. If you haven't seen it, I am posting it at the bottom so you can do so because its amazing.

I know I used this recently but it's much needed.

 Rachel did point out the other day when we were watching Harry Potter movies (after I went into explicit detail about the stories with my useless HP knowledge) that I am in fact the biggest dork. I never thought about it but when I speak, I realize how dorky my interests are. 

Anyways, with that said, I have planned another trip to the comic book store in Oakland this weekend when I need a break from Hillman.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Yesterday, we wandered out of the city and into the country side when we went pumpkin picking on an honest to god farm! We went with Elizabeth grandma and it was just a really fun day. We went to this farm that has a store where they sell their crops but you could take a hay ride to the top of this hill where the pumpkin patch was and the corn maze was and you could pick what you wanted off the vine and it was so cool! I felt like a little kid, they don't have this in Florida! I also bought some homemade jams and then we went home and immediately to the library. It was nice to get off campus for a while.

Anyways, back at the library for the night I think (and for the rest of the week for that matter).

Well yesterday wasn't very eventful but it was enjoyable. Early evening I went to Rachel's and we watched the Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family with Jon and had a couple drinks. Then Chloe came over and we all went on the roof and we just hung out. It was really nice to just have a few drinks with some friends and enjoy the breezes throughout the night. Jon and I even sat on the edge of the building (he convinced me to) and sitting there with my feet over the edge with nothing to catch me if I fell was really liberating. It was a crazy feeling but it made me feel sorta invincible.

Anyways, same story for today only I'm going to Hillman with Rachel and working on Calc because I have another exam coming up.

Let's go Pitt!

I went to the game last night against Virginia Tech and it was SO much fun! I've never been to a college football game, or any football game just for fun. Usually it was a grade and I was to busy doing anything but enjoying the game so this was a blast to experience it finally. There was tailgating on the lawn before the game (free hotdogs and cookies) and then when we got inside Heinz field, we sat pretty close up front. Even better was that we won against VT and they turned on the Victory Lights on Cathy last night! The whole stadium even sang Sweet Caroline (as per tradition).

Netflix, you finally came through and you are actually here for me now. Netflix announced that every episode of Friends will be streaming starting New Years Day. What better way to start the new year than binge watching my favorite show ever created? I am so psyched for this, I've been hoping they would come to their senses and start streaming it. THANK YOU NETFLIX.

Anyways, today is over and I am going for a run and then headed to Rachel's for movies and AHS.

Ode To Sleep

Been a long week and a half, and a very busy one too. I had my midterms and I think I did pretty well on them. Today was the last day of my Fall Break (which is just a long weekend) and tomorrow its back to the real world. Although tomorrow is a Halloweentown movie marathon and a new episode of American Horror Story so that'll be fun tomorrow. Had an exhausting weekend but it was a a blast.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. Rachel, Elizabeth, and I all went to Hillman library and we did homework for a majority of the day. At around 4 Rachel and I went to The Waterfront for some shopping. I got new running shoes, my halloween costume and a candle (because of a sale they were having). we had appetizers at TGI Fridays and it was such a fun day that I got to spend with my best friend. Last night we went to the guys Sweater party because its been freezing cold all weekend and it was a lot of fun as always, lots of hugs and good times.

Well not a crazy Friday night like most people in our area but just as fun if you ask me. We had a movie night with knock off Oreos and Halloween movies. Originally it was just a girls night but then Chloe and Jon came over too. It was fun because after the movie we decided to get Antoon's pizza which is like an institution here in South Oakland for amazing pizza. On our way back to Rachel's it started to rain but we decided to check out her fire escape and discovered it went up to the roof so we hung out up there and it was a lot of fun. Today we are spending the day at Hillman (library) and then tonight we are going out.

It is 48 degrees and rainy here in Oakland this fine Saturday and it was actually hailing a little earlier so I guess Hail To Pitt really is accurate.

After a long, awful week it is finally the weekend! Well the end of the week wasn't bad but I'm glad its finally Friday. Thursday I pretty much hung out with Rachel and we made tacos for dinner and wow we made good tacos. Tonight We are having a girls night and we are getting froyo and watching movies to just relax after a long and stupid week.

The Day Before The Day

This has been the most hellish week I think I've ever experienced. Not necessarily for any reason, its just been a weird week. I've done really well on all quizzes and homework and I've been studying but for some reason this week sucks. I mean thankfully I have a day off tomorrow and then Friday is here and its the weekend again.

I hate to sound like a whiner but its just been one of those weeks. I think its the heat, but thankfully its cooling down this weekend. After a crap week I am going to end up like the picture with this post. Happy hump day!

I Feel It Coming

How is it only Tuesday? I feel like this week is already dragging on and that I need to be rewarded with the weekend already. Fall break is in like 2 weeks and it couldn't come any faster. But tomorrow is October and I am so happy because then my three favorite months are here! Not because of the holidays either (I'm not big on the holidays really) but I love fall and winter. This week needs to go by quickly and then it'll be the weekend again and I'll be a happy camper.

Well another long week goes by. The lack of sleep I've gotten this week is uncanny. This weekend is all schoolwork and homework since I have a quiz on Monday and I dont intend on failing it and I know Rach has an O Chem exam so it'll be a pretty solitary weekend for me. I finally got my moms care package in the mail yesterday and I love it. She is awesome, she sent me all this face stuff and creams becuse my skin is dryer here, she sent me cold medicine because of the Pitt Plague and she sent me a new backpack and winter gloves. I love her, she knows me so well.

Off to make pancakes and tie my calc book back to my ankle for the day!

It Don't Matter To The Sun

Having one of those weeks where everything ends up being "glass half empty". Its not a pleaseant feeling, to say the least. On one hand I am so happy where I am and that I'm going to school but on the other hand, I worry about bills and paying for school and classes that I need to take. On top of that I dont get to see my family again for a very long time because of school and work and evrything in between. Hate to sound all pessismistic, so I apologize.

I have one more class for today and then I can go home and maybe nap off this gross mood before I dive into my studying. Adulthood sucks; dont be fooled by all the independence and social aspects of it (even if it is great).

Mondays forever suck. The schedule for Mondays isnt bad but the day itself is always bad. Today its nice and cool outside which is lovely but it'll only last for today since this week is going to jump back up to unneccesarry heat. Sunday, Elizabeth and I went to this little comic book store just to check it out and I loved it there. It was so cute! We also found this little used book store with a bunch of old books and we found a bunch of old medical textbooks and one on surgery from 1914 and I want it so bad.

Off to metally prepare myself for this run I'm going on today.

This week went by really fast. I had two exams and a lot of restless nights and on top of that I am sick now with the Pitt Plauge. Last night was a lot of fun though. We went to an America party (dress up all patriotic) and it was a lot of fun. The guys were there and I went with Rachel and Lauren and it was just a ton of fun. Very rarley does my patriotism for this country bleed through my stone cold persona but nothing keg stands and beer cant fix for a few hours. Today is a lazy day consisting of Grey's Anatomy and sociology since this sickness is hitting hard today.

As comedian Iliza Schlesinger says: the weekend represents 48 hours that you get to fuck up the life you work so hard for all week!

We Are The Last Of Our Kind

Welp, been almost a week and I've been a bad blogger but alas college is kicking my ass this semester. It's a lot busier when you have friends and actually enjoy where you live!

Week went by well, and the weekend was a lot of fun! Friday the girls had a movie night because we were all getting breakfast the next morning so I slept over. Saturday we had breakfast and went shopping with Rachel (two new tanktops for 20!) then we night we started the night early and went to the guys house where they were having a small thing. I always have a lot of fun when I go there. Sunday was bad hangover day and then today class was impossible. I think I'm learning how to sleep with my eyes open.

 PS in May I wasnt able to fit into my favorite dress and since Rachel and I started walk/running I've lost some weight so I tried it on tonight and it fit! Go me!

I hate Tuesdays.

My day is so late and it throws off the rest of the week. Today wasnt too bad, but I  did light a Bunsen burner for a lab expirement and saw my life flash before my eyes because my idiot of a lab partner had the gas on too high. But I survived because I have cat-like reflexes. The week needs to be over because I just want it to be the weekend so I can sleep some more.

Anyways, more grocery shopping with Rachel (mostly tagging along for the ride) and then Calc homework for the rest of the day, paaaarty.

Friday was fun since Rachel and Lauren took their PCAT's and they did really well (go them!) and then we went out to a party but I went home early because I wasn't feeling too great. Saturday, Rachel and I went grocery shopping and then we had wine night with The Guys and Elizabeth and that was a blast. It was great to just sit in the living room and hang out and talk. Sunday I helped the girls clean up their apartment after we watched the Steelers game.

Today was boring but we all did go for a walk today and it was cool outside and super nice. My life's turned around a lot since I moved up here and I am so excited to see how everything will turn out.

This morning I had my interview and I think it went really well. He said he was going to be making a decision pretty quickly so I'm sure I'll here from hi within a few days so fingers crossed! So my day started off pretty early. Last night wasn't too bad either, after classes I went to Rachels and hung out with her and Elizabeth and we're finally at that point where I stayed at her place when she had a meeting because I had homework. It was fun though, easy night.

Today I have a little more homework since I have a quiz tomorrow. Rachel and Lauren take their PCAT's tomorrow (and they will ace it since they are both working so damn hard at it) and after they get back it's party time for everyone.

Life's turning out pretty great up here. Finally feels like home.

What a long weekend. Friday not much happened, mostly just hung out at home. Same thing on Saturday but then that night we all went to the guys house for a party and it was a blast. A lot of pictures but only going to post the one really good one of all of us. Sunday I went grocery shopping and I was really hungover so it wasn't so fun. Also found out that I think I mightve bruised my rib because it hurts when I breathe. Oh well its not a fun night unless you get a minor injury!

This morning I had a coffee date with Rachel and this Thursday I have an interview with a nursing home for a nighttime receptionist! So wish me luck!

Well last day of classes for the week today. Monday classes are cancelled for Labor Day (?) so long weekend! It'll be pretty boring since Rachel has to study for her PCAT on Friday but we do have a few plans for the weekend still in the works.

Last night was a lot of fun though. I spent most of the day chilling out and doing homework and after 5 I met up with Rachel on Forbes to get some ingrediaents for what we were making for dinner. We made Chicken Picatta with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies and WOW it was actually really good! And it was wine night last night. After we cleaned up we watch What Not To Wear and it was exactly what we needed to wind down after a long week.

Now I'm gonna go for a run and then relax for the day

Land Of Oppurtunity

What a long day. I am exhausted and its only 4 15. Currently sitting at Rachels place while she tries to buy tickets for Pitts football season. Its homework day here since I dont have class tomorrow and I dont plan on doing anything but working out and hanging out w/ Rachel at 5.

Today was hell getting home. Theres a Pirates game and everyone parks at Heinz field which is right next to the subway station that I take into downtown. So everyone and ther families and grandparents were waiting for an already late train (they were late all day today) and the kicker is that the stop they ould get off at was the closest and the first stop. Like seriously? You could've walked there faster in the time you wasted at the station and made the train smelly and cramped.

But I digress. Last night, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Tyler came by (mostly just to see my place) at around 10 30 and we all hung out for a bit but it was late. It's nice to finally be having some sort of social life since I got here.

Anyways, off to finish the last half of my homework.

If theres anything I actually hate (because I use the term loosley), its wasting my time doing something I dont need to do. So I have a PSA: if you're in high school, please don't fuck around. It's not worth it in the slightest. Do good in school, I mean it.

Tuesdays are going to be the bane of my exsistence. I have two classes today and my Calc class is over at 11 while my lab starts at 12 50 so now I just sit around for a few hours and wait for my lab. My day is over at 2 on tuesdays and I'm getting used to being out by noon honestly. But the rest of the day is still a mystery for me so we'll see how today goes.

Anyways, bored out of my mind and all I can do is drink coffee (which isnt necesarily a bad thing).

Today was a pretty productive day for me. This morning I had my classes and they went fine, really quickly actually. When I got home, I immediatly changed, popped advil and went running through Schenley again. After I got home and took a shower, I headed over to hang out with Rach and Elizabeth for a little while and then I came home. Now I''m just trying not to fall asleep, I am exhausted but I dont like napping because then I dont sleep well at night. Rach is mad at me because when I got to her place, I told her I hadnt eaten all day and she practically force fed me some left over brocolli. Stupid decision but if I didnt go running when I did, I wouldve lost all motivation to go at all.

Anyways, gonna fight the desire to fall asleep until its a reasonable hour to go to bed.

Finally met (almost) every one of Rachels friends up here in PA. Everyone I met last night (aka The Boys) were so swee, everyone was really friendly and funny and welcoming! It was a lot of fun last night. Rachel and I also made dinner (well mostly Rachel) since she wanted to figure out her George Foreman grill and it was healthy and tasty, go us.

Dinner was fab!

Today I cleaned and did some homework since Rachel and Lauren had a pharmacy thing. Tomorrow classes pick up again and social lives die down until Friday.

Last night was a blast in a glass. I finally got to put some faces to the many names from Rachel's stories and they are all really nice people (so far anyway). But it was a lot of fun. Around 6 yesterday, I went over to Rachel's place which is pretty much done by now, and we had Subway (we split one sub; thats college life, dont let anyone tell you differently!) then people started coming over and we pre-gamed in Rachel's hot apartment(and I mean scorching hell hot). I had beer too which is something I dont normally drink but the Iron City Beer (Pitts famous beer) was actually good. We went to two parties and danced and drank and it was a lot of fun.

Today I think its the same plan but I'm not 100% sure yet. But it would be fun regardless. Gonna go down my coffee and get ready for the day.
